With nearly 40 years experience as a vein specialist & surgeon, Dr. Gabriel Goren, M.D. offers his services treating bulging hand veins using his Rejuvahand Procedure.
Dr. Goren is a graduate of Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School, Jerusalem, class of 1963. After one year of rotating internship (1964), two years of residency in Internal Medicine (1965-66), and six years of residency in General Surgery (1967-72), he received the Israeli Surgical Board Certification in 1973. That same year he came to the United States for a Kidney Transplant Research Fellowship at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (1973-74). He became a Clinical Kidney Transplant fellow at the LAC-USC Medical Center (1981-83) in Los Angeles.
In 1984 he opened his private practice in Southern California dedicated to the office treatment of vein disorders, their diagnosis, and treatment. While visiting Europe, in Switzerland he was exposed to a minimally invasive procedure for leg varicose veins, called Ambulatory Phlebectomy, which was also done in an office setting and under local anesthesia. The method involves the removal of the veins through tiny 2-3mm skin openings using specially designed hooks.
After several years of practice with this technique, and excellent results, Dr. Goren’s publication on the subject, published in 1991, was for the first time revealed to the American surgical establishment. Up until that point, the old-fashioned stripping method was the procedure of choice for treating varicose veins, requiring a hospital setting, general anesthesia, and usually 2-3 weeks of downtime, along with visible scarring on the legs.
In The Vein Book published in 2007 and edited by Dr. John J. Bergan, the chapter by Dr. Almeida and Dr. Rains dedicated to the Ambulatory Phlebectomy procedure states the following:
“It is of interest that after its introduction, the (American) medical-scientific community exhibited a minimal interest in the method. Ambulatory Phlebectomy did not gain popularity in the US until the American surgeon Gabriel Goren published his findings in the Am. J Surgery, volume 162; pages 166-174. – 1991”.
In 1995, after performing hundreds of Ambulatory Phlebectomy leg varicose vein procedures in his office, a patient who was bothered by her age-related bulging hand veins challenged Dr. Goren to do something about it. The same hook removal method was applied, and as expected, the results were excellent. Ever since, in close to 800 cases performed, the procedure has left no scars, no infections, and not one recurrence has been encountered.
Dr. Goren has written a total of 30 medical articles, 20 of which are on venous subjects. In February of 2022, he was included in the pantheon of professionals assembled for the Marquis ‘Who’s Who in America’.
At the end of 2022, after 38 years, he closed his private office. Dr. Goren continues to offer his services utilizing a colleague’s medical office, and he works exclusively on treating unwanted bulging hand veins using his Rejuvahand™ procedure. (Treatment Options)
In his free time, Dr. Goren enjoys classical music concerts, staying active & fit, and he speaks six languages, including: English, his mother tongue of Hungarian, as well as Romanian, German, French and Hebrew.
